By Michelle Casady - Express-News

A Bexar County sheriff's deputy has been placed on administrative leave after she was arrested over the weekend on a charge of driving while intoxicated.

Detective Louis Antu said Deputy Margie Miranda, who has worked for the department for at least 19 years, was arrested in San Patricio County.

He said Miranda has been put on leave as the internal affairs division investigates whether she violated any policies or procedures. Antu said she was not on duty or working in an official capacity when the arrest occurred.
