Ugly politics in the Hill Country

What a frickin' mess this appears to be.

Kerr County Judge seeks probe into DA's former staffers
By Zeke MacCormack - Express-News

Kerr County Judge Pat Tinley is seeking an investigation into an alleged inappropriate relationship between two past staff members of 198th District Attorney Amos Barton, who both deny it.

At the center of the claim is former prosecutor Brad McCullouch, who said Friday of Tinley's push for a probe, “There is absolutely no doubt that this is politically motivated.”

McCullouch, 38, is locked in a bitter Republican primary fight with Kerrville attorney Scott Monroe, 58, to succeed Barton.
