Has anyone told the HOA that perhaps cutailing crime in the neighborhood would help property values?

I hate home owner's associations.

Here is another reason why.

Burglar bars could cost Texans $200 a day
By Robert Kolarik - Express-News

Members of a Houston-area family are facing a fine of $200 a day from their homeowners association for installing burglar bars on their home, KHOU-TV is reporting.

James Moody and his wife have lived in their northeastern Harris County home for eight years, the station says. After the birth of their son a few weeks ago and concerned about crime in the neighborhood, they decided to install the bars.

Now, their homeowners association is claiming that the bars hurt property values in the area, KHOU reports. The association says that if the bars aren’t removed, it will fine family $200 a day.
