Lawyer indicted for murder

One count of murder and four counts of drug charges?

I guess he'll spend his time in prison writing writs of habeas corpus for his fellow inmates.

Of course that is if he is convicted and sentenced to do time.

Dallas jury indicts man in CHS grad's death

-

A Dallas County grand jury met Friday to indict Scott Matthew Marshall on pending murder charges following the December shooting death of a 25-year-old New Braunfels woman in Addison.

The indictment details will be revealed Monday or Tuesday next week, according to staff at Dallas County’s criminal district court No. 2.

Marshall, 39, was arrested on charges of murder after Addison Police officers found the body of Staci Michelle Montgomery, 25, on the porch of Marshall’s home in north Dallas on Dec. 20, 2009. Montgomery is a graduate of Canyon High School.

Marshall also faces four felony drug charges.

Officers responded to a 9-1-1 call and found Montgomery’s body, according to a statement issued by Jamie Hawkes, a spokeswoman for Addison Police. Police arrested Marshall, a personal injury lawyer who also worked from his Addison home, later that night.

Montgomery had a gunshot wound to the head and neck, according to the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Police believe Montgomery met Marshall when he worked with her ex-husband Bady Sassin, also a Dallas-based lawyer.

According to police statements, officers also arrested a 27-year-old Dallas woman in connection with the incident. Authorities initially arrested her on charges of “failure to report a felony,” a class A misdemeanor.

All charges against the woman were dropped.

Montgomery was born in Houston, but grew up near Lake Dunlap, said Angel Schodts, one of Montgomery’s two older sisters.

Montgomery was a 2002 graduate of Canyon High School. She returned to Texas from Italy, where she worked as a nanny for three months.

Montgomery taught English to the children at the home where she worked in Italy, and had been thinking about moving back there, Schodts said.

She lived in California and the Dallas-Fort Worth area and had married and divorced, her sister said.
