One for the road

A terrible tragedy.

Of course, drinking was involved so there will most likely be charges of intoxication assault and manslaughter.

Two Chevrolet Suburbans collided late Friday, killing one man, injuring several others and causing a pregnant woman to miscarry, authorities said.
According to a police report, one of the drivers told authorities that he and the other driver had been drinking at a club before the 11:45 p.m. wreck on northbound Loop 410 near Ingram Road.
One SUV was carrying two men and four women when it swerved and crashed into the lane’s right guardrail, said SAPD Sgt. Barry Smith. The second SUV, traveling a few feet behind, could not stop in time and crashed into the other SUV seconds later, digging deep into its right side, the report said.

Three passengers from the first vehicle were thrown from the front window. One of them, 41-year-old Monte Anderson, was pronounced dead at the scene. None was wearing a seatbelt, Smith said.
The surviving passengers of the first vehicle remained in critical condition Saturday at area hospitals.
The pregnant woman miscarried as a result of injuries from the wreck, the police report said.

The driver of the SUV that swerved into the guardrail is facing two charges of intoxication manslaughter, according to the police report. His condition was not known Saturday night. According to county records, he had not yet been charged.

Michael Boyd,36, the driver of the second SUV, was charged Saturday with DWI, according to county records.
